Episode 5 - Death is not the End

In this episode Chevron is accused of failing to let go of the teenage goth that lurks in the depths of her dark and twisted soul... 'NOBODY UNDERSTANDS ME!' and we remember the fallen comrades of the Doctor with great reverence.

Yes, we know what la petite mort means. Get your minds out of the gutter.

We miss you Nicholas Courtney, especially as this epipod was recorded pre-CyberBrig.

Buy Home Truths from Big Finish.

Just a Minute is a long running Radio 4 panel show in which contestants are challenged to speak on a subject for a sixty seconds without hesitation, deviation or repetition.

From the corrections department:

Steve Coogan's swimming pool supervisor character is from The Day Today. And what we can take from this is that nobody should ever question Chevron ever at all ever.

William Hartnell's 'I am not a dog' fluff is actually in The Thing of the Thing, also known as The Daleks' Master Plan.

Jean Marsh appeared thrice, yes thrice, in The Crusade, The Daleks' Master Plan and Battlefield.

Mike Yates, as we all know, keeps cropping up until Planet of the Spiders.

Feature Length Series Eight Recap - Peaks & Troughs

In this feature length episode we try to discuss series eight. Success is measured on a sliding scale.

Roman à clef, different type of key.

Graham Duff, i'n't he scrummy?

Uncanny Valley.

If chins could kill...

Holbein's The Ambassadors

Perfume - One Room Disco (Chevron likes the one in the shorts)

After recording we re-watched In the Forest of the Night together and diskgrinder decided he liked it after all.

The Young Poisoner's Handbook

Apologies to Drs A & B for paraphrasing.

You've seen more of Rachel Talalay's work than you think you have.

Episode 4 - Darlin' Companion

In this episode we discuss the Doctor's companions who made an impact on our impressionable young minds, and consider what makes for an effective wing-person to your average renegade Gallifreyan. Uncharacteristically long and uncharacteristically polite. No let up on the swearing, par for the course.

Much respect, affection and contrition to the marvellous Rob of the Who Wars Podcast.

Matthew Waterhouse and Big Finish.

Why do you gotta play that song so loud?

We look up to all of them. Except Ronnie Corbett, even Chevron is taller than him.

Catherine Tate's 'Nan' (with bonus Helen A). Chevron still thinks it's bobbins.

The Scorchies.

Katy Manning's one woman show: 'Not a Well Woman'.

Big Finish's 'Gallifrey' series starring Lalla Ward and Louise Jameson (and John Leeson).

Prime adverts with Lalla Ward and Tom Baker.

Al No of the Diddly Dum podcast and his theories relating to Greek Tragedy.

Episode 3 - Girls, Girls, Girls!

In this episode Chevron, weak and feeble by virtue of her gender, sprains her ankle within seconds of hitting 'record' and diskgrinder has to carry her (literally and figuratively) for the rest of the show.

Betteridge's Law

Has Doctor Who become more sexist? No.

Brigham Young University-Idaho undergraduate infographic.

The Bechdel Test is associated more with film than with television. A not at all comprehensive list of films and how well they fare can be found here.

Criticism of the Bechdel test can be found... everywhere that common sense prevails.

The only other podcast we ever reference.

Chef Goldblum

The Wizards of Delight - Time Travel Lady

From the corrections department:

Everything Chevron said is irrelevant, obviously. She is but a woman.

Chevron unfairly described BYU-Idaho as unaccredited. This is incorrect, the institution has been accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. It does, however, insist that staff and students adhere to an honour code that includes temperance, abstaining from pre-marital sex and Section 28-esque rejection of homosexuality.

We didn't discuss the Sisterhood of Karn because we're negligent.

Episode 2 - Memory Lame

In this episode we talk about ourselves and take a proverbial walk down memory lane. Meanwhile, we are literally standing on chairs to avoid the carpet of snakes hissing in the background; and resolve to acquire a microphone for future podcasts (as a defensive weapon for use against the snakes).
UNIT dating conundrum Available in reasonable quality if you buy a copy of Day of the Daleks on DVD, which you should do.

diskgrinder in Shallow Grave

Nicholas Courtney – Tomorrow’s Times

Who is Rob Shearman?

Nicholas Bloody Parsons

From the corrections department: Chevron is referring to Flesh & Stone. Don’t write in.

Episode 1 - Opening Titles

In this episode we discuss the merits of opening title sequences. Well, we try.
Well, one of us tries.

Moogies Bloogies
The Very Things – The Bushes Scream While My Daddy Prunes

From the corrections department:

diskgrinder isn’t wrong about The Beatles, pause for shock and awe, it was The Chase. Chevron admits her error with grace and humility.
Season 12 started in December 1974

Season 18 began in August 1980.

Welcome to Binro Was Right, a Doctor Who-centric insight into the tangential ramblings of an irritable old man and a cantankerous shrew.
